Houghall College Lambing Sunday Event

This year, Durham Badger Group attended the Houghall College Lambing Sunday Event. What a day! Lambing Sunday was held on Sunday 20th March 2016. It ran from 11am to 3pm.

After a successful event in 2015, the East Durham College Houghall Farm in Durham held its latest event. And what an event! Entry was only £1.50/adult and £1/child. Well worth it!

Refreshments were available to purchase, including a barbecue, or you could bring a picnic!

People flooded in to meet new arrivals of pigs and piglets, cows and calves, horses, reptiles and other small animals.

There were stalls doing craft activities and information stands too. There was an Easter Bonnet competition.

And Durham Badger Group had all of our displays and stall there. There were badgers to stroke – Bessie, a young female and Billy, a young lad of around 6 or 7 months.Diggerland attended, with some digger games for children to play, and Durham police were there too.

Bertie the Badger had so many photos taken with children that he lost count!

There were lots of free hand-outs on the stall, and we ran our ‘Hedgehog’ game. Pick a spine from our wooden hedgehog to win a prize.Bertie

We ran our Badger Treasure Trail, where children were given a list of questions about badgers. They could find the answers on a series of posts set up around the grounds. If they came back with the answers, they won a prize.

I would certainly recommend Houghall’s Lambing Sunday. We’ll certainly be returning, so we might see you then.
